DR. JAAGRITI LUTTHRA PRRAASANNA
Dr. Jagriti Luthra Prasanna is a distinguished vocalist, celebrated for her profound command over Indian classical, Sufi, and devotional music. Rooted in rich musical traditions, she received her foundational training in Raagdari Taleem under the guidance of Mrs. Ketaki Banerjee of the Kirana Gharana. She further refined her artistry under Shri Ritesh Mishra and the legendary Padma Bhushan Pt. Rajan and Sajan Mishra of the Banaras Gharana.
A devoted disciple of Ustaad Sakhawat Hussain, grandson of Padma Bhushan Ustaad Mushtaq Hussain Khan of the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana, Dr. Jagriti has mastered the intricate nuances of Sufi and Ghazal Gayaki with exceptional depth and sensitivity.
An academic achiever, she was a topper at Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi, and earned her Ph.D. with research centered on the legendary Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, reflecting her deep scholarly engagement with Sufi music traditions.
In 2026, her book “Sufi Music Through the Eyes of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan”, published by BR Publications, marked a significant contribution to the field of musicology. The book offers profound insights into the maestro’s distinctive style, performance aesthetics, and unwavering dedication to Sufi music, encompassing both Qawwali and Ghazal forms. It further presents a comparative study of traditional and modern trends in Sufi music, highlighting how Nusrat Saheb redefined and elevated the genre on a global stage.
